The latest update on this is, that the remake is going to be directed by Director Lee Isaac Chung, who just the wonderful Minari, which has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Shortly after the huge success of Your Name in 2016. J.J. Abrams confirmed that he has the rights for the live-action movie of Your Name and announced that there will be great talents attached to the project.
